During Dr. Feldstein's tenure, major institutional strategic initiatives set forth in PCOM 2020: A Strategic Vision have been achieved. These outcomes are highlighted in the PCOM 2020: Report on Our Accomplishments. Under his leadership, the College is now executing the next strategic plan—PCOM 2025—to advance PCOM's position of excellence.

  • In fiscal year 2023-24, PCOM investigators received over $8 million in external funding, with nine new grants and contracts awarded.
  • The Journal of Integrated Primary Care, PCOM’s first open-access, peer reviewed scientific journal, published its first edition in December 2023.
  • Each year, PCOM celebrates scientific discovery through Research Day at all three locations. In 2023, Research Day showcased 253 posters.
  • PCOM formed a strategic partnership with Organic Remedies in 2020 to study medicinal cannabis, focusing on its therapeutic potential for opioid management and the treatment of chronic pain, impact on behavioral health and quality of life, and trends in usage.
  • In 2019, PCOM psychology investigators were awarded a $5.5 million contract from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) to study the effectiveness of psychosocial treatments for patients receiving treatment for opioid use disorder.
  • PCOM attained more than $15.2 million in commitments—the largest total raised for the fourth year in a row—and 80% of the amount contributed was allocated for strategic initiatives.
  • In January 2024, PCOM received the largest philanthropic commitment in its 125-year history. The eight-figure commitment by Howard A. Hassman, DO '83, advances PCOM and its strategic priorities and also serves as the cornerstone of the United & Ignited fundraising campaign.
  • United & Ignited, with a $65 million fundraising goal, focuses on accelerating academic excellence, expanding clinical opportunities and enhancing student experiences.

The PCOM Primary Care Innovation Fund focuses on investing in healthcare-related products and services related to primary care. Structured as a traditional venture capital fund to ultimately help grow the endowment of PCOM, the $5 million fund is focused on making investments in the range of $250,000 to $500,000.

  • Working to meet the demand of students interested in pursuing medical school or other professional studies, PCOM expanded its accelerated one-year Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences to its PCOM and PCOM Georgia campuses in 2023. The program initially launched at PCOM South Georgia.
  • Blending positive psychological theory, research and applied approaches, PCOM's Master of Applied Positive Psychology program—launched in 2022—prepares students to pursue doctoral studies in psychology or work in the field as wellness coaches. As part of the program, students are engaged in clinical work in the PCOM Healthcare Centers and facilitate A Happier You.
  • Launched in 2022, the College's Master of Science in Medical Laboratory Science programs prepare students to become highly-qualified laboratory scientists. In 2024, the program at PCOM Georgia was recognized as a Serious Applicant for Initial Accreditation by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences.
  • American Osteopathic Association's Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) voted to grant PCOM status “Accreditation with Exceptional Outcome,” following comprehensive self-study report and visits by a COCA accreditation team to all PCOM campuses in September 2019.
  • The Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) continued the PCOM School of Pharmacy's Doctor of Pharmacy program accreditation until 2028.
  • At PCOM Georgia, a physician assistant program launched in 2016. The physical therapy program welcomed its inaugural class in 2018.
  • New programs in public health management and administration (MS, certificate offerings) were initiated.
  • For DO alumni, an executive MBA in healthcare, offered through a partnership with St. Joseph's University, was made available.
  • The Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) in school psychology program was granted initial accreditation by the American Psychological Association (APA).
