Recognizing the growing need for compassionate, evidence-based memory care, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) has established a Memory Center to serve those in the community seeking answers and support in the face of cognitive challenges.

The Memory Center at PCOM brings together an interdisciplinary approach combining the expertise of neuroscientists with the clinical disciplines of geriatric medicine, clinical psychology and gerontological nursing to enable accurate diagnosis, patient-centered treatment planning, and proactive advance care strategies to improve outcomes for patients and their families.

“This new center represents a significant step forward in advancing PCOM's mission of providing exceptional, patient-centered care while addressing a critical gap in our community,” said Katherine Galluzzi, DO, CMD, FACOFP DIST., chair of Geriatric and Palliative Medicine and director of the Memory Center at PCOM. “With nearly seven million people in the U.S. affected by Alzheimer's disease, we are proud to offer new services that detect early identification of cognitive decline so that accurate diagnosis and appropriate next steps in treatment can be initiated.”

From comprehensive memory assessments to ongoing follow-up appointments, every client at the Memory Center will benefit from a seamless and supportive care journey with services ranging from in-depth cognitive evaluations, personalized treatment strategies, ongoing medical and psychological support and referrals to specialized resources within the community.

Located in Rowland Hall on PCOM's Philadelphia Campus, the center is designed with comfort in mind and includes dedicated break areas, visit pacing tailored to reduce cognitive fatigue, and practical intake forms for both patients and caregivers to help create a welcoming atmosphere.

By addressing both medical and emotional needs, this center aims to ease the burden of memory-related concerns, reduce stigma, and ensure that patients and their families never feel alone and empower them at every step of their care journey.

Following the National Institute on Aging-Alzheimer’s Association (AD NIA-AA) guidelines and working alongside PCOM's Center for Chronic Disorders of Aging (CCDA) and the Alzheimer Disease Pathobiome Initiative (ALZ-PI), the Memory Center at PCOM will also ensure the latest research and best practices inform every aspect of care.

The Memory Center will be open for appointments every Thursday from 8:30am-12:00pm with all appointment requests and questions to be sent to memorycenter@pcom.edu.
