The Innovative and Emerging Pharmacy Careers Track equips student pharmacists with the knowledge and skills needed to pursue dynamic, non-traditional roles in the evolving field of pharmacy. This track emphasizes forward-looking career paths that extend beyond standard clinical or retail settings, preparing students to contribute meaningfully to new and expanding areas of healthcare.
With a curriculum focused on adaptability, innovation, and specialized expertise, students are encouraged to explore how pharmacists can lead and influence in diverse sectors. Elective courses promote a broader understanding of the healthcare system and highlight the pharmacist’s role in emerging fields such as policy, technology, specialty therapeutics, and healthcare management.
Upon successful completion of the track requirements, students earn a certificate of completion, providing formal recognition of their advanced preparation in non-traditional pharmacy roles. This credential enhances professional distinction and supports future career opportunities in both established and emerging areas of pharmacy practice.

In the current information age, pharmaceutical marketing is vastly different given the increasing presence of the internet and social media, company consolidation, and regulatory changes throughout the last decade. Not only have the number of blockbuster medications produced by Pharma decreased, but so has the presence of directed sales representatives in physician offices. Therefore, pharmaceutical and healthcare industry marketers must work harder and smarter to maximize every product’s or service’s potential. This course will examine the current pharmaceutical marketing environment from both an academic and practical perspective and give students the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the business and regulatory aspects of the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry.
Managed care is continually evolving and growing as a place where pharmacists are employed and making an impact. This course examines all the places pharmacists are impacting managed care and how one might set themselves up for a position/career in the area.
In this elective course, students will examine the use and abuse of cannabis in our society from historical, biological, clinical, legal and regulatory issues perspectives. This course will cover aspects related to the medicinal use of cannabis. Students will become familiar with the topic of drug use and abuse through online elective lectures and participating in classroom group discussions. This course will help prepare students to practice in this changing setting.
This course will provide an overview of nuclear pharmacy including both PET and SPECT. The focus of the course will detail biology, physics, radiation safety, mathematical application to nuclear practices, regulatory bodies, guide to nuclear pharmacist licensing and practice, and good manufacturing practices.
