The pharmacy laboratories at PCOM Georgia are a vital part of the hands-on training that prepares Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) students for varied roles in today’s healthcare landscape. These learning environments
include three dedicated teaching labs—a pharmacy practice lab, a compounding lab,
and a sterile products lab—each designed to simulate real-world pharmacy settings.
Whether practicing accurate medication dispensing or learning aseptic techniques,
students work with the same tools and standards found in community pharmacies, hospitals,
and clinical facilities.
In the sterile products lab, students receive personalized instruction from expert
faculty as they learn to safely prepare IV medications, manage hazardous drugs, and
maintain strict environmental controls. The compounding lab allows students to explore
non-sterile formulation techniques, such as preparing capsules, creams, and suspensions
tailored to patient-specific needs. The pharmacy practice lab reinforces skills in
patient communication, medication therapy management, and prescription processing.
