March 21, 2022

Students from the class of 2022 are celebrating the next step in their professional journey. Here they share what has inspired them along the way and what advice they would give to new students.

PCOM Georgia pharmacy student Krysten McNaught matched at Mount Sinai Beth Israel for her residency programWhere did you match?

Mount Sinai Beth Israel, Manhattan, New York.

What specialty did you match into and why did you choose this?

Completing a residency allows me to further enhance my clinical knowledge, critical thinking skills and professionalism. I feel most fulfilled when I am able to make patient interventions to impact patient care in the clinical setting. Additionally, I thoroughly enjoy working on an interdisciplinary team and all the creative learning it facilitates.

How did you feel when you found out you had matched?

I was in utter disbelief! Seeing my results felt so surreal. I’ve been anticipating this moment for so long and finally living it felt like a dream come true.

What advice would you give to a first year pharmacy student starting their journey?

Never give up. Your best work might manifest differently throughout your journey but always try despite of! The race isn’t for the swift but for those that have the ability to persevere through tumultuous times.

Is there anything else you would like to share?

If it makes you feel nervous, go for it!
