Match Day 2021

March 31, 2021

Students from the class of 2021 celebrated one of the most exciting days in their professional journey—Match Day. Here they share their personal match story, what has inspired them along the way and what advice they would give to students starting the journey today.

PCOM Georgia's Jordan Dimmel (PharmD '21) matched to Randall Children's Hospital in Portland, ORWhere did you match?

Randall Children's Hospital in Portland, Oregon

What inspired you to go into pharmacy?

I always knew I wanted to go into health care. I was born with a rare congenital birth defect, which required lots of expert care when I was younger. It took a village to support me multiple times and I knew I wanted to help be part of that village for other patients someday. When I started working in retail pharmacy over eight years ago, I fell in love with the patient care aspect and was so excited for the expanding pharmacy clinical roles on the horizon.

How did you feel when you found out you had matched?

Absolutely over the moon!

What advice would you give to year one pharmacy students just starting their journey?

Do not limit yourself and try every opportunity you are able! Even if you think you may not like a particular pharmacy specialty, you may be surprised after experiencing the different clinical roles available during APPEs. APPEs are a truly unique time where you get to trial potential future career paths.
