PCOM South Georgia Welcomes Community to Nov. 9 Open House

November 3, 2023

PCOM South Georgia students smile and talk in the main lobby while giving a campus tour to visitorsHave you ever wondered what it's like to be a medical school student? Even if you don't plan to study medicine, you can find out on November 9, 2023, when PCOM South Georgia invites community members in for an open house.

“We've had so much support from the community, and now we just want to invite anyone who's interested to come visit us so they can see what we do,” said Dana Brooks, executive director of admissions. “Our students regularly go out into the community to work with various groups, but this is an opportunity for people to see the work they do as med students.”

Registration is required, and food will be served during the event. All participants must be 18 or older.

“The South Georgia community has been so welcoming to us since we first opened our doors in the fall of 2019,“ said Joanne Jones, chief of campus operations and career counselor. “This open house is an opportunity for us to invite everyone into our home for a visit so we can share with them the work that we do. We want our neighbors to get to know our amazing students and employees and to see some of the incredible work that's being done right here in Moultrie.“

Guests will have the opportunity to learn about PCOM South Georgia's two degree programs – the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine medical program and the Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences graduate program.

“We decided to schedule the open house for an evening so that it would be a time convenient for most people,” said Jena Willis, senior assistant director of admissions. “We're excited to have guests from our community come in, join us for a meal, meet our students and faculty, tour the campus, and learn all about PCOM South Georgia.”

PCOM South Georgia, which opened in the fall of 2019, is the only osteopathic medical school in South Georgia. Its first class of physicians graduated in the spring of 2023. Two classes of biomedical students have graduated with the master's degree, one in the spring of 2022 and another in the spring of 2023.

Register for the open house today or email jenawi@pcom.edu for more information.
