I matched into internal medicine—I want to be a flight doctor!
I was very excited for the future and proud of myself for how far I've come.
I was inspired to pursue medicine because I want to be on the front lines, taking care of our servicemen and servicewomen who put their mind, body and soul into protecting our country. I want to give back to them and take care of them in a caring way, which I think they deserve.
I would tell a first-year medical student to make sure you make time for the things you love. Don't get sucked into the books and let life pass you by. You'll be happier and a much better doctor if you maintain balance.
