Saltzburg Clinical Learning and Assessment Center PCOM
The Dr. Michael and Wendy Saltzburg Clinical Learning & Assessment Center provides a controlled environment where students develop essential clinical and communication
skills. The facility is designed to simulate outpatient and procedural care settings,
supporting the transition from classroom learning to clinical practice.
The center includes a series of private exam rooms where students participate in standardized
patient encounters, practice physical examinations, and strengthen their diagnostic
and interpersonal techniques. Each room reflects the layout of typical outpatient
clinics to help prepare students for real-world clinical settings.
In addition, the center features a surgery suite equipped for procedural training
and interprofessional exercises. This space gives students opportunities to gain experience
with surgical tools, team-based care, and clinical decision-making in a high-fidelity
environment.
Together, these resources support skill development ahead of clinical rotations and
other patient-facing experiences. Named for alumnus Michael C. Saltzburg, DO '77,
and his wife Wendy, the Saltzburg Clinical Learning & Assessment Center was funded
by significant gifts made by the Saltzburgs as well as generous contributions from
the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program and other
donors.
