Kate Delaney, MS/APP '25, a student in the Master of Science in Applied Positive Psychology (MAPP) program at PCOM, is deeply committed to making a difference in healthcare. “PCOM surrounded me with
a community of smart, funny, courageous leaders who inspire me every day to grow,”
she shared.
Her education has fueled her passion for driving positive change, which is why she
is actively involved in facilitating health support groups, implementing a workplace
mindfulness pilot, and representing the MAPP program on the Psych Council. Delaney
is dedicated to shaping a future that prioritizes well-being on both individual and
systemic levels.
Her decision to pursue a career in health care is personal. “I see health care as
a fundamental right and a natural extension of equity,” she explained. After spending
several years working in hospitals, Delaney witnessed the emotional and physical toll
healthcare professionals endure. “I've sat with families as they've mourned, celebrated
and planned,” she shared. These experiences solidified her desire to contribute to
a healthcare system that is both compassionate and continuously improving.
Delaney's path at PCOM became clear after an informational interview with Scott Glassman, PsyD. “Our conversation was invigorating and relieving—what I believed in my gut had taken
shape before me,” she said. “PCOM's philosophy of caring for others aligned perfectly with what I wanted to do.”
Looking ahead, she aspires to be a leading voice in the wellness space, educating
thought leaders and organizations about the importance of mental well-being as a cornerstone
for sustainable growth.
Inspired by Paige DeSorbo, who advocates for mental health and women's rights, Delaney's
advice to those following a similar path is simple: “Take pride in your journey. There
will come a day when you no longer have to fight to be heard—then use your voice to
help others be heard, too.”
As for what’s next, Delaney has her sights set on influencing the future of wellness
by educating thought leaders and decision-makers on how mental and community health
can be ethical, sustainable and profitable strategies for long-term success.
