Why did you choose a career in pharmacy education?

Pharmacy education is a highly respected career in society. It fosters the success of pharmacists to provide healthcare services to the community. Working together with collegial colleagues and watching the growth of our motivated students in a friendly environment day by day makes my personal life meaningful, fruitful and grateful.

What is your research interest?

I was trained as a pharmacologist to study signal transduction of ion channel regulation. Recently my research interests have switched to more translational research direction. I am working with a group of pharmacy students at PCOM to develop a medication management device that may help visually impaired patients to improve their adherence of drug treatment. I am also interested in studying the beneficial effects of Tai Chi exercise on parasympathetic nervous system and the enteric nervous system.

What advice do you have for a person considering a career in pharmacy?

Pharmacy is a rewarding career. Pharmacists plays critical roles on healthcare teams by practicing pharmacy, patient care and safeguard against medication misuse. When you consider a career in pharmacy, you need to know that you are making a commitment to be a professional caregiver, a life-long learner and a role model in your community.

What is your favorite ice cream flavor?

Ben and Jerry’s Chocolate Therapy.
