The PCOM Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) Program White Coat Ceremony for the Class of 2029 will take place on Friday, August 8, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. at The Drexelbrook Catering and Event Center.

PCOM's osteopathic medical students will celebrate with friends, family, faculty and administrators as they receive their white coats, hear from program directors and other guest speakers, and recite their class mission statement. The ceremony marks an important milestone in welcoming medical students into the osteopathic profession.

About the White Coat

The White Coat Ceremony is a significant rite of passage for first-year medical students, which serves to establish their commitment to the osteopathic profession and patient care. This ceremony symbolizes the purity of medical care and the trust that exists between doctors and patients. The coat serves as a reminder to physicians of their duty to practice medicine with humanism and professionalism, and it symbolizes their scientific proficiency, integrity, responsibility and compassion when diagnosing and treating patients.

Tickets and Ceremony Details

Attendees must receive a ticket from a PCOM student in order to enter the ceremony. Please visit our FAQ page to view answers to frequently asked questions about the White Coat Ceremony.

Doors will open at one hour prior to the ceremony for all guests. Guests requiring additional assistance will be allowed to enter 10 minutes prior to other guests.

Late arrivals will be required to wait outside the ceremony space until the conclusion of the processional.

The Drexelbrook Catering and Event Center

The Drexelbrook is located at 4700 Drexelbrook Dr, Drexel Hill, PA 19026. Parking is free at the event property.

Information for Students

Students must register via Tassel in order to participate in the White Coat Ceremony. Tassel is the system used to manage ceremony operations, including student RSVPs, communications, and stage passes. Students must create an account in Tassel to:

  • RSVP for the event
  • receive guest tickets
  • ensure their name is listed and pronounced correctly for the ceremony.

Students will receive an email from studentaffairevents@pcom.edu when the portal is open.

RSVP Required

Students who do not respond and indicate their intent to participate in ceremony by the required deadline may not be able to participate or receive guest tickets.

Students must arrive no later than 90 minutes prior to the ceremony start time.

We will review the order of service for the ceremony and ensure all students are seated alphabetically. It is imperative that students arrive at the specified time. If you are late, you will be seated in the last row at the end of your program and not in alphabetical order.

Water will be available in student holding area and you may bring snacks or food if needed. You will be waiting for an extended period. Please come prepared.

To maintain a professional atmosphere, please follow these guidelines for attire and preparation:

  • Wear business casual attire.
    • If you choose to wear a dress, please make sure it is longer than your white coat.
    • No jeans or shorts are allowed.
  • Bring your white coat with you, and make sure it is neatly pressed.
  • If you participated in the white coat ceremony last year, please bring the same white coat with you.

To help ensure a smooth and organized experience for all attendees, please review and follow these ticket guidelines:

  • Secure Tickets: Register through Tassel to receive your three (3) guest tickets.
  • Distribute Tickets: Send your tickets to your guests through the Tassel website. You are responsible for ensuring each guest receives their ticket.
  • Ticket Transfers: If you have unused tickets, you may transfer them to other students by emailing the tickets through Tassel.
  • Children: All guests ages three (3) years old and older need a ticket for admission.
  • Ticket Scanning: Each ticket will be scanned at the entrance due to venue fire code limits.
  • Capacity Limits: This event has strict seating limits, similar to concerts or sporting events. Do not bring extra guests, as they will be turned away.
  • Ticket Issues: Guests with ticket problems will be sent to a help desk for assistance. To avoid complications (such as duplicate tickets), send your tickets out carefully and responsibly.
