Student Elective Rotation

Learn about PCOM's student elective rotation in ophthalmology and how to apply.

The ophthalmology residency program offers student elective rotations and audition rotations at various affiliated sites across Philadelphia. These sites include Lankenau Medical Center, Springfield Hospital, Wills Eye Hospital, as well as various private offices.

These 2-week rotations will provide students both exposure and experience in various disciplines of ophthalmology spanning inpatient, outpatient, acute care and operative settings.

  • PCOM ophthalmology applications for 4th year audition rotations open every year from January 1, and close at the end of February. No additional applications will be accepted after the end of February.
  • PCOM ophthalmology audition rotations run from June to the end of October, and should be scheduled within this period to be considered an audition.
  • An invitation for an audition rotation does NOT in any way guarantee an interview spot.

The non-audition season runs from January through May each academic year. We begin accepting applications for the non-audition season in October.
