ELECTIVE ROTATIONS

General Surgery 
Student Elective Rotation

Learn about PCOM's student elective rotation in general surgery and how to apply.

Applicants must submit the following documents in order to apply:

  • Photo
  • CV
  • COMLEX scores
  • Brief one page personal statement

If your application is approved, you will receive a response from gsauditions@pcom.edu. Depending on the rotation site to which you will be assigned, your response may include an attached Google Form requesting the below documentation:

  • Letter of good standing
  • Copy of health insurance card (front and back)
  • General Liability Insurance and Professional Liability Insurance (minimum of $1 million/$3 million, current at the time of rotation).
  • PA state criminal background check (within two years of the requested rotation dates)
  • PA fingerprinting clearance (within two years of the requested rotation)
    • For out of state fingerprinting visit IdentoGo (service code 1KG738). You will select submit fingerprint by mail.
  • PA child abuse clearance (within two years of the requested rotation) 
  • Immunization records
  • PPD test results (2-step or quantiferon within one year)
  • Flu shot verification
  • COVID19 vaccination and booster verification
  • Mask fit test (within two years of the requested rotation)
  • Drug test

  • Apply between February 1 and February 28.  Completed application, with initial documents, must be in by February 28 to be considered. No applications will be accepted after February 28. Decisions will be made and communicated by May 1.
  • Complete the online application below.
  • If approved, depending on the rotation site to which you will be assigned, a form to upload additional required documents will be emailed to you.

  • We are currently offering audition rotations during the months of July through January
  • We are offering 4 week rotations at each site.

  • Lancaster General Hospital
  • Chestnut Hill Hospital (PCOM students only)
    • PCOM General Surgery Associate Program Director, Roshin Thomas, DO
  • Jefferson Northeast Hospital
  • Jefferson New Jersey Hospitals
