Student Elective Rotation
PCOM's geriatric rotation is an elective rotation (two or four weeks) in which students
learn to care for frail, elderly patients in various settings.
Time will be spent in the geriatric outpatient office at PCOM as well as nursing homes
and hospitals in the Philadelphia area. Students receive exposure to palliative care
including inpatient hospice care and palliative care consultations. They will also
have the opportunity to observe interdisciplinary team meetings in the long-term care
setting as well as for hospice patients. Students have the option to participate in
home care if interested.
