Continuing Education at PCOM

A wide spectrum of educational activities and instructional methods are utilized during our in-person and online programs, drawing upon the rich and diverse educational expertise of our presenters.

We strive towards developing educational initiatives that take into account principles of adult learning, and we strongly promote the development of initiatives that include interactive, case- and problem-based educational delivery models.

Face-to-Face CME Programs

Our face-to-face CME program are live CE/CME activities where learners participate in person. Examples include annual meetings, conferences and seminars. For events with multiple sessions, such as annual meetings, accredited providers report one activity and calculate the hours of instruction by totaling the hours of all educational sessions offered for CE/CME credit. The AOA allows 1A-Credit to be offered for all face-to-face programs that meet category 1 quality guidelines and faculty requirements, and which are sponsored by AOA-accredited category 1 CME sponsors.

Online Programs

Our online courses consist of live webinars and on-demand programs which offer participants the convenience of distance learning with the same expert instruction as provided in our live courses.

Live Webinars

Live webinars are online programs available at certain times and dates. Live webinars are only available in real-time, just as if the course were held in an auditorium. Once the event has taken place, learners may no longer participate in that activity unless it is again presented at a later date. The AOA allows up to 15 hours of Category 1A-Credit to be offered for live webinars.

On-Demand Programs

Our on-demand programs are online educational programs that can be accessed at any time. You determine when to complete the activity. Examples include online interactive educational modules, recorded presentations and podcasts. Availability for on-demand programs can vary. Check our Online Learning Center for current listings. The AOA allows 1B-Credit to be offered for on-demand programs.

More information regarding AOA Accreditation Criteria for CME is available on the American Osteopathic Association website.
