PCOM offers housing stipends and additional loan funding for housing expenses during student clinical rotations.
Students in the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and Master's in Physician Assistant Studies programs require non-elective clinical rotations that may take them more than 60 miles away from their main campus and/or clinical core site. In order to assist with this additional expense, PCOM helps students defray some of this expense through a clinical student housing stipend program. Students have the option to apply for additional loan funding for elective rotations that exceed the stipend and for non-elective rotations. The housing funding is provided to eligible students as a reimbursement. The student must be registered for the rotation when they apply for reimbursement.
In order to be considered for PCOM's clinical student housing stipend, students must:
The process for students to apply for the clinical student housing stipend is as follows:
For non-elective clinical rotations, students will be eligible for student housing stipend funding up to, but not to exceed, $2,500 per four week rotation. Please note that the stipend is made available to students as a reimbursement. Students will only be reimbursed for the amount of the out of pocket expense paid towards housing. The stipend is capped at $2,500 for a four week rotation or as prorated below in the various examples.
If the non-elective expense exceeds the clinical housing stipend, the student will be informed that they can apply for additional Federal student loan funding to cover the remaining difference. All loan funding must be repaid by the student after leaving PCOM as part of their federal loan repayment plan.
PCOM's housing coordinators serve to connect eligible students with clinical student housing opportunities. We share information on where previous students have been housed during rotation periods. The final decision on where to live is ultimately up to each student.
The housing options shared are not affiliated with or endorsed by the College, and it is each student's responsibility to evaluate and choose what best suits their needs. The housing coordinators can assist with any housing-related questions or concerns as well as connect students with additional campus resources when necessary.
Please be aware that some rotation sites may offer housing. This should be your first choice over applying for the stipend above. Visit myPCOM for FAQs and additional housing resources.
