The PCOM South Georgia Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) Program White Coat Ceremony for the Class of 2029 will take place on Friday, August
8, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. at University of Georgia Tifton Campus Conference Center in
Tifton, GA.
PCOM South Georgia's osteopathic medical students will celebrate with friends, family
and faculty as they don their physician white coats, recite their class mission statement
and hear from class chairs, program directors and other speakers. The white coat ceremony
marks an important milestone in welcoming students into the osteopathic profession.
About the White Coat
The White Coat Ceremony is a significant rite of passage for first-year medical students,
which serves to establish their commitment to the osteopathic profession and patient care. This ceremony symbolizes the purity of medical care and the trust
that exists between doctors and patients. The coat serves as a reminder to physicians
of their duty to practice medicine with humanism and professionalism, and it symbolizes
their scientific proficiency, integrity, responsibility and compassion when diagnosing
and treating patients.
