Student Counseling
Mental Health and Wellness

Counseling is a free service provided for all currently enrolled students at PCOM, PCOM Georgia and PCOM South Georgia.

About Student Counseling Services

The most common student concerns brought up in counseling are personal growth, academic difficulties and career indecision, adjustment to professional school, self-confidence, depression and anxiety, relationship conflicts, eating disorders, controlling the use of alcohol and other drugs.

We use a collaborative process that involves the development of a unique, confidential and supportive relationship between the counselor and student. In these relationships, counselors facilitate conversations that seek to understand the student and their situation. This process is intended to guide the student to a stronger and healthier person. Through discussing their issues, students develop an ability to make better choices as well as take responsibility for actions with themselves, other relationships and even their academics.

Individual

This treatment modality is offered on an as needed basis to work through personal concerns. Individual therapy is generally short term.

Group counseling

Counseling in groups offers a broad range of insight and support from peers. Some groups deal with general concerns and personal growth; others have a more specific focus such as test anxiety or coping with a loss..

Outreach

Outreach initiatives have included yoga and tai chi classes, pet therapy, aromatherapy, journaling and tea sessions, mentorship training, suicide awareness programming, and workshops on topics such as test anxiety, healthy relationships and sleep hygiene.

In addition to on-campus resources, students have access to two free external support platforms designed to make care convenient and accessible:

Healthiest You

The Healthiest You platform offers unlimited telehealth services, including counseling, psychiatry and primary care—allowing students to connect with licensed providers anytime, from anywhere.

All One Health Student Assistance Program

The All One Health Student Assistance Program provides a range of supportive services such as short-term counseling, coaching, and access to legal and financial resources.

Together, these resources are here to support student's mental, emotional and overall health throughout their time at PCOM.

Visit Student Mental Health and Wellness on myPCOM for additional resources.

Behavioral intervention team

The PCOM Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) is a cross-functioning, multidisciplinary group that provides proactive and reactive assistance to students exhibiting concerning behaviors.

PCOM food pantries

At the PCOM food pantries, students may pick up a few non-perishable grocery items at-will. Bring your own bag, no sign ups needed. Donations are also accepted.
