PCOM President and Chief Executive Officer Jay S. Feldstein, DO ’81, has been named a 2026 Community Champion by the Philadelphia Business Journal as part of its inaugural Health Care Leadership Awards. The program recognizes 19
honorees across 13 categories who are advancing health care across the Greater Philadelphia
region and underscores the industry’s role as a major economic and community force.
Feldstein was selected for his commitment to expanding access to care, strengthening
the healthcare workforce, and building partnerships that improve health across PCOM’s
communities.
Since becoming president and CEO in 2004, Feldstein has guided institutional growth
at PCOM, expanding academic programs, community initiatives, and regional partnerships
while remaining focused on the College’s mission of serving communities in need.
A cornerstone of that work is PCOM’s Community Wellness Initiative (CWI), which brings health education and services directly into neighborhoods across Philadelphia.
In the past year, CWI participated in more than 100 community events, engaged more
than 350 students in service-learning, and delivered nearly 8,400 health screenings
and educational encounters.
“This recognition reflects the efforts of our students, faculty, staff, alumni and
community partners who are committed to improving health and expanding opportunity,”
said Feldstein. “We make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families
throughout our region.”
The College’s partnerships include Philadelphia Youth Basketball, the TGR Foundation, the Cobbs Creek Foundation, St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, and Accelerate Health Equity. As a founding
partner of Together for West Philadelphia, PCOM collaborates with healthcare systems,
academic institutions, and community organizations to bring resources and education
into neighborhood settings.
Feldstein also supports efforts to develop the next generation of healthcare professionals
through programs such as Opportunities Academy, STEM Saturday, and the Undergraduate Research Program, which provide mentorship,
enrichment, and hands-on experiences for students pursuing careers in health care.
Feldstein was recognized alongside fellow honorees at the Philadelphia Business Journal’s Health Care Leadership Awards celebration and featured in a special awards edition
of the publication on June 19.
