MS in Medical Laboratory Science
Rafael Arteaga's Story

June 7, 2023

PCOM Georgia's Rafael Arteaga (MS/MLS '24) shares how the Master's in Medical Laboratory Science program is preparing him to be a medical laboratory scientist and be an important part of healthcare teams. He explains how the program's hybrid online and in-person format provides him flexibility to pursue his degree. He also explains how the campus community generates a supportive, close-knit cohort for learning.

MS in Medical Laboratory Science

The Master of Science in Medical Laboratory Science prepares graduates to be medical laboratory scientists or medical technologists. These professionals perform a variety of tests on blood and body fluids for ordering physicians and healthcare organizations. Medical laboratory scientists are important team members to aid in physicians' medical diagnoses of patients.

The medical laboratory science degree is offered at both our PCOM (Philadelphia, PA) and PCOM Georgia (Suwanee, GA) locations. The pre-professional program is offered in a hybrid format including online didactic coursework and monthly hands-on laboratory practice sessions over the course of two years. The post-professional program is a full-time, online program designed for students who hold a bachelor's degree in medical or clinical laboratory science and can be completed in as little as three terms.
