Aubrey Berghoff, EdS ’25, always knew she wanted to work in a helping profession.
Her career began with supporting children on the autism spectrum, a role that sparked
a deeper interest in providing comprehensive support for children and families. That
experience ultimately led her to pursue graduate education in PCOM’s Educational Specialist (EdS) program in School Psychology.
“I chose school psychology because I wanted to help kids reach their full potential
by giving them the tools and resources they need to be successful now and in their
futures,” Berghoff said. That passion found a natural home at PCOM, where she says the sense of community and shared purpose has been a constant source
of support.
One of Berghoff’s most formative experiences during her time at PCOM was a work-study
placement with Methodist Services, where she worked with Head Start students and educators.
The opportunity gave her early experience in supporting classrooms and strengthened
her collaborative skills well before entering her formal field placements.
Berghoff’s professional journey will continue next year at the Delaware County Intermediate
Unit (DCIU), where she will serve as a school psychologist. She looks forward to contributing
to the DCIU’s mission of providing high-quality, cost-effective educational services.
“I hope to keep growing professionally and to make a lasting impact in the fields
of psychology and education,” she said.
Inspired by her parents, who are both teachers, Berghoff is committed to supporting
educators as well as students. “Teachers can sometimes feel unheard and overwhelmed,”
she said. “I want to help make sure they feel safe, supported, and appreciated.”
Her advice for future school psychologists? Be open to learning from everyone around
you. “You may be seen as the expert, but it’s the teachers, parents, and specialists
who will guide you more than you think,” she said.
With a family full of educators—including her grandmother, parents, and twin sister—Berghoff
is proud to carry on a legacy of service and support.
