General Surgery Residency Program

The PCOM General Surgery Residency Program is a unique experience in surgical training.

Combining a strong academic and hands-on program with the assets of a large medical school affords a tremendous learning experience for the surgical resident. Facilities such as a fully equipped animal surgical suite, human patient simulator lab, cadaver lab and laparoscopic and endoscopic simulators add to the educational experience.

Positions: 30 positions; 6 categorical intern position available each year

Attention applicants: The PCOM General Surgery Residency Program does not require USMLE. Please apply through ERAS and upload COMLEX parts I and II.

Program overview

Residents in this program can easily perform about 200 major surgeries each year and will be exposed to numerous experienced faculty trainers at our affiliated sites. Residents have the benefit of a large and diverse faculty and dedicated academic time including daily teaching rounds, divisional and weekly grand rounds, monthly meetings of the tissue committee and morbidity and mortality committee as well as departmental meetings at each institution. Residents also teach students and interns.
