Barefield, PharmD, associate professor, pharmacy practice; Caroline Champion, PharmD, assistant professor, pharmacy practice; and Brent Rollins, PhD, associate professor, pharmacy practice co-authored “Student Pharmacists Self-Perceived Confidence in Communication Skills with Healthcare Practitioners Before and After a Seminar Course,” which published in the Journal of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy.

Brandon Barndt (DO ’19) co-authored “Complex Regional Pain Syndrome Type II Arising from a Gunshot Wound (GSW) Associated with Infective Endocarditis and Aortic Valve Replacement,” and “Rare Extraspinal Cause of Acute Lumbar Radiculopathy,” both which published in the journal BMJ Case Reports.

Kevin Barretto (DO ’20) co-authored “Lack of Association Between Age and Coronary Artery Calcification (CAC): A Cross-Sectional Study,” which published in the Journal of General Internal Medicine.

Skye Bickett, DHS, assistant director, library services, co-authored “Systematic Reviews and Tech Mining: A Methodological Comparison with Case Study,” which published in the journal Research Synthesis Methods.

Jeffrey Jai Cherian, DO ’12, resident, orthopedics, co-authored “Global Budget Revenue on a Single Institution’s Costs and Outcomes in Patients Undergoing Total Hip Arthroplasty,” which published in the Journal of Arthroplasty.

Jason E. Cohn, DO, resident, otolaryngology, co-authored “Comparison of Radial Forearm Free Flap and Gastric Pull-Up in Pharyngo-Oesophageal Reconstruction,” which published in the journal Clinical Otolaryngology.

Abhi Jain (DO ’19) and Jennifer Mao (DO ’20) co-authored “Critical Appraisal of Telerehabilitation Effectiveness in Poststroke Patients with Residual Motor Deficits,” which published in the journal Neurorehabilitation and Neural Repair.

Hiba Khanzada (DO ’21) co-authored “Categorizing Characteristics of Counterfeit Marlboro Cigarettes: A Systematic Review of Tobacco Industry Documents,” which published in the journal Tobacco Control.

Hua Ling, PharmD, assistant professor, pharmacy practice and Thuy My Nguyen (PharmD ’19) presented “Effect of High Dose Ranolazine on Hemoglobin a1c Levels in Patients with Diabetes Mellitus: A Systematic Review,” at the 2018 ACCP Global Conference on Clinical Pharmacy.

Rex Lutz (DO ’21) co-authored “A Proactive Approach to High Risk Delirium Patients Undergoing Total Joint Arthroplasty,” which published in the Journal of Arthroplasty.

Robert Lynagh, DO, resident, neurosurgery; Joseph Georges, DO, resident, neurosurgery; Mark Ishak, DO, resident, neurosurgery; Brandon Boyer, DO ’18; Steven S. Yocom, DO ’93, director, neurosurgery residency program and Denah Appelt, PhD, director, bio-medical sciences, co-authored “Fluorescence-Guided Stereotactic Biopsy: A Proof-of-Concept Study,” in the Journal of Neurosurgery.

Kumar Mukherjee, PhD, assistant professor, pharmacy, was first author on “Variation in Prostate Surgery Costs and Outcomes in the USA: Robot-Assisted Versus Open Radical Prostatectomy,” which published in the Journal of Comparative Effectiveness Research.

Susan M. Panichelli-Mindel, PhD, director of research, clinical psychology, and associate professor, clinical psychology, Cristina Sperrazza, PsyD ’18 and Melanie F. Levit (PsyD ’21) co-authored “A Pilot Study Exploring the Relationship Between Perfectionism and Anxiety in an Urban Middle School,” which published in the Journal of Psychoeducational Assessment.

Marcine Pickron-Davis, PhD, chief diversity and community relations officer, was named co-chair of the AACOM Council on Diversity and Equity.

Anna Sicilia (DO ’22) co-authored “Transplanting Hepatitis C Virus-Infected Hearts into Uninfected Recipients: A Single-Arm Trial,” which published in the American Journal of Transplantation.

Ahmed Siddiqi, DO, resident, orthopedic surgery, co-authored “Tranexamic Acid Reduces Transfusion Rates in Obese Patients Undergoing Total Joint Arthroplasty,” in the journal Surgical Technology International, and “Role of Anatomical Patella Replacement on Anterior Knee Pain,” and “Are All Periprosthetic Joint Infections the Same?
