On January 1, 2023, an Alliance formed by Temple Health and Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) officially acquired Chestnut Hill Hospital in the Chestnut Hill neighborhood of Philadelphia.

Temple Health – Chestnut Hill Hospital (TH-CHH) is a 148-bed community-based inpatient and outpatient facility offering diagnostic and treatment services, including emergency care, minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic-assisted surgery, cardiology, gynecology, oncology, and orthopedics, primary care practices, two Women's Centers, and an off-site physical therapy center. TH-CHH remains a freestanding, licensed acute care hospital under a not-for-profit company owned and controlled by the Alliance and managed by Temple Health
This opportunity was much more than a financial transaction for PCOM. The alliance provides a novel solution for preserving an important hospital that has been serving its community for more than 100 years and strengthens community access to important healthcare services and world-class academic care.
Each member of the Alliance has deep roots in the northwest Philadelphia and eastern Montgomery County communities served by TH-CHH. Each has an interest in preserving this community resource, and each brings distinct value to this strategic partnership:
Through this Alliance and the collective support of our partners, PCOM is able to continue training the next generation of healthcare practitioners at Temple Health - Chestnut Hill Hospital for medical students, physician residents and other healthcare professionals. Most importantly, the College is helping preserve a critical community resource that has served the northwest Philadelphia and east Montgomery County area for more than 100 years.
