Founded in 1787, the College of Physicians of Philadelphia, home of the Mütter Museum, is a nonprofit institution dedicated to “advancing the
cause of health while upholding the ideals and heritage of medicine.” Twice a year,
the College inducts new Fellows who have demonstrated excellence in clinical care,
education, research or public service.
The Spring 2025 College Night ceremony was held May 9, when inductees formally signed
their names into the College's historical register, joining the ranks of notable past
Fellows such as U.S. Founding Father Benjamin Rush, Surgeon General C. Everett Koop,
and Thomas Dent Mütter, whose medical collection formed the basis of the museum that
bears his name.
Bidey was sponsored for the Fellowship by Michael Becker, DO, MS, FACOFP, PCOM's associate dean of clinical education, and Kenneth J. Veit, DO '76, MBA, FACOFP, provost and senior vice president of academic affairs, who are both Fellows of the
College. He described both as longtime mentors and sources of inspiration throughout
his career.
“I’m just a kid from Philadelphia, and I never imagined I'd be part of something with
such a rich and historic legacy,” Bidey said. “To be nominated by individuals I've
long admired is deeply meaningful, and this honor is really a reflection of the many
incredible people who’ve supported me throughout my journey. I've been fortunate to
grow within an institution that truly invests in its own, and I hope to carry that
forward by supporting the next generation of physicians.”
At PCOM, Bidey is an educator and mentor to countless osteopathic medical students,
and he sees the Fellowship as both a continuation of PCOM's mission and a personal
charge to shape the next generation of compassionate, community-driven physicians.

About Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine
Established in 1899, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) has trained
thousands of highly competent, caring physicians, health practitioners and behavioral
scientists who practice a “whole person” approach to care—treating people, not just
symptoms. PCOM, a private, not-for-profit accredited institution of higher education,
operates three campuses (PCOM, PCOM Georgia and PCOM South Georgia) and offers doctoral degrees in clinical psychology, educational psychology, osteopathic
medicine, pharmacy, physical therapy, and school psychology. The college also offers
graduate degrees in applied behavior analysis, applied positive psychology, biomedical
sciences, forensic medicine, medical laboratory science, mental health counseling,
physician assistant studies, and school psychology. PCOM students learn the importance
of health promotion, research, education and service to the community. Through its
community-based Healthcare Centers, PCOM provides care to medically underserved populations.
