PharmD Student Finds Purpose Through Student Clubs
August 27, 2025
Going into his third year at PCOM Georgia, Justice Sconiers (PharmD ‘27), has some pent up nerves, but it's mostly excitement for what’s ahead. A native of
Grayson, Georgia, Sconiers is the first in his family to go to pharmacy school.
Despite initial jitters as a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) student, Sconiers threw himself into campus life from day one. During orientation, he explored
various student-run organizations at the club fair, discovering The Georgia Pharmacy Association (GPhA), Kappa Psi
and Christian Pharmacists Fellowship International (CPFI).
These groups quickly became more than extracurricular activities—they became platforms
for Sconiers to build his confidence, sharpen his skills and forge connections with
other peers, faculty, and mentors across the PCOM Georgia community. Not only did
getting involved open doors to travel and other leadership opportunities, but for
Sconiers, it allowed him to step into formal roles within these organizations that
unlocked his potential.
“I’ve always believed I had leadership qualities,” Sconiers shared, “but I wasn’t
sure how to bring them out. Getting involved allowed me to tap into my creativity
and take on responsibilities like organizing events.”
Now as the President of the Student Leadership Board of GPhA, Sconiers works with
members from all four pharmacy schools in Georgia to raise awareness and encourage
active participation within the state affiliate. He promotes meetings, both regional
and at the annual convention, and shows how students can educate others about the
profession through engaging events like Day at the Dome and Policy on Tap.
Sconiers firmly believes that with careful planning and flexibility, he can balance
it all—academics, leadership, and personal passions—while truly enjoying the journey.
“Even when things get busy, I believe things can work together. I love the work, the
people, and the experiences I’m gaining.”
