PCOM Georgia has appointed Phillip Pearson, PhD, as the new Chair of Biomedical Sciences for the osteopathic medicine program.

An esteemed educator and researcher, Dr. Pearson joined the PCOM faculty in 2022 as a Professor of Anatomy. With nearly two decades of medical school teaching experience, he brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to this pivotal role.

“We are excited to welcome Dr. Pearson into this leadership role,” said Andrea Mann, DO, FAAP, dean and chief academic officer of PCOM Georgia's Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) program. “His proven track record and commitment to our core values will undoubtedly propel our department, and our students, forward.”

Known for his collaborative approach and dedication to student success, Dr. Pearson is well-positioned to motivate faculty and align departmental initiatives with PCOM's mission of excellence in osteopathic medical education. In his new capacity, Dr. Pearson will oversee daily departmental operations, manage budgets and lead faculty within the Department of Biomedical Sciences. He will also continue to lecture and participate actively in campus committees.

“I am truly grateful for the opportunity to serve as the Chair of Biomedical Sciences at PCOM Georgia, and to be a part of our student success as we advance our mission of excellence in osteopathic medical education,” said Dr. Pearson.

Dr. Pearson earned his bachelor's degree from Tulane University, a Master of Science from the University of Georgia, and his doctorate from the University of Tennessee-Memphis. His academic journey also includes post-doctoral fellowships at MD Anderson Cancer Center and Howard University. His extensive background is further complemented by his active involvement in institutional service, including directing foundational science courses and serving on key campus committees such as Curriculum and Admissions.
