May 29, 2026
Shelley DiCecco, PT, PhD, CLT-LANA, CI-CS, has been appointed chair and program director of the Department of Physical Therapy at PCOM Georgia, where she will continue to lead the charge to enhance patient-centered education
and innovative clinical research. In addition to being an associate professor in the
department, she has served as the interim chair since November 2024, providing leadership
during a pivotal period for the program.
“Dr. DiCecco’s proven track record and commitment to academic integrity and quality
teaching have remained unwavering, even as she has managed the complexities of program
leadership and core faculty workloads,” said Brian G. Mann, EDD, MS, PA-C, dean of the School of Health Professions and Sciences (SHPS) at PCOM. “Beyond her administrative and teaching contributions, Dr. DiCecco has remained
a productive researcher, actively supporting research initiatives across all of PCOM,
including student projects in multiple programs and on multiple campuses.”
Since joining PCOM in 2018, DiCecco has been an integral member of the physical therapy
faculty, bringing specialized expertise as a certified lymphedema therapist and pelvic
health specialist. She has earned recognition in both fields for her innovative treatment
approaches and advanced understanding of anatomy and pathophysiology.
“As chair, I am committed to enhancing the Department of Physical Therapy at PCOM
Georgia for our students, faculty, and community,” shared DiCecco. “I look forward
to collaborating more closely with other departments and expanding opportunities for
academic interaction at the College.”
Dr. DiCecco earned a bachelor's degree in special education and a pre-physical therapy
certificate from Clemson University in 1997, followed by a master’s degree in physical
therapy from the University of St. Augustine in 2000 and a PhD in the philosophy of
physical therapy from Texas Woman’s University in 2012.
