Our department trains PCOM South Georgia medical students in osteopathic principles, philosophy, and practice including the use of osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) to help diagnose, treat and prevent illness.
Our focus is teaching students to utilize a "whole person" approach to health care, which looks beyond the patient’s symptoms to address the underlying cause of illness and working with the patient to improve their health through education, prevention, and quality care.

This comprehensive approach to patient care includes osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM) which utilizes osteopathic philosophy, structural diagnosis and use of osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) in the diagnosis and management of patients.

Our OMM laboratory is a state-of-the-art facility with natural lighting, height adjustable tables and advanced audio/video systems for viewing stage presentations. The designated study area outside of the laboratory allows students to practice OMM techniques on height adjustable tables.
The PCOM South Georgia location also supports an undergraduate osteopathic teaching scholars program which provides continuous access to peer tutors in the OMM laboratory setting.
