KARIM ZIA ZAMAN, DO
Associate Professor of Pathology

Dr. Zaman has worked as an attending physician in blood banking/transfusion medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. He has also worked as an attending surgical, clinical and blood banking/ transfusion medicine pathologist at New York Methodist Hospital and at Good Samaritan Hospital in Illinois. He has also lectured in pathology at many hospitals including NY Methodist Hospital, NIH, Mayo Clinic, University of Texas Houston Medical School, Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University, University of Illinois at Chicago and Cook County Hospital in Chicago.

Dr. Zaman is licensed to practice medicine in Illinois, New York and Georgia.

Education

Dr. Zaman received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin and earned a DO degree from the University of North Texas Health Science Center. He completed a Rotating Osteopathic internship at Dallas Family Hospital in Dallas, Texas, and a five year combined Anatomic and Clinical pathology residency at the University of Illinois in Chicago. He is fellowship trained in Transfusion Medicine from the National Institute of Health, Bethesda, Maryland, and completed a second fellowship in Surgical Pathology at Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C.
