Nancy Aronson, PhD, assistant director and clinical assistant professor, organizational development and leadership (ODL) designed and facilitated the Pennsylvania Governor’s Institute on Plans of Safe Care in partnership with the Department of Health, the Department of Human Services and the Department of Drug and Alcohol Prevention.

Arash Bahrami, DO, resident, otolaryngology, co-authored “Pharyngeal Reconstruction with Microvascular Free Tissue Transfer,” which published in the journal Seminars in Plastic Surgery.

John Becher, DO ’70, chair, emergency medicine, was recognized by the Department of Professional Development and Online Learning for 30+ years of ongoing commitment to PCOM’s Emergency Medicine CME Program.

Christopher Capicotto (DO ’19) was selected to present his Social Impact Pitch at the 16th Annual Global Health & Innovation Conference at Yale University.

Kerin Claeson, PhD, associate professor, anatomy, co-authored “Revision of Eocene Electric Rays (Torpediniformes, Batomorphii) from the Bolca Konservat-Lagerstätte, Italy, Reveals the First Fossil Embryo In Situ in Marine Batoids and Provides New Insights into the Origin of Trophic Novelties in Coral Reef Fishes,” which published in the Journal of Systematic Paleontology and was selected as the winner of the JSP 2018 Outstanding Paper Award.

Jason E. Cohn, DO, resident, otolaryngology, co-authored “Free Tissue Transfer Penile Reconstruction,” which published in the journal Seminars in Plastic Surgery.

Avijit Deb (DO ’20) co-authored “Heparin-induced Thrombocytopenia During Extracorporeal Life Support: Incidence, Management and Outcomes,” which published in the journal Annals of Cardiothoracic Surgery.

Marissa Evarts, DO, resident, otolaryngology, co-authored “Posterior Vocal Fold Cysts,” which published in the Ear, Nose and Throat Journal.

David Festinger, PsyD, professor, psychology, and director, substance abuse research and education and Ilene Warner-Maron, PhD, clinical assistant professor, psychology, presented “Uses and Concerns of Cannabis Among Older Community-Dwelling Adults,” at the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging’s annual ethics conference.

Joanne Jones, campus officer, PCOM South Georgia, was named a member of the Moultrie-Colquitt Board of Directors.

Michael Kakareka, DO, resident, neurosurgery, co-authored “Endoscopic Third Ventriculostomy Prior to Resection Posterior Fossa Tumors in Children,” in the journal Children’s Nervous System.

Rachael Kern (DO ’20) co-authored “Interventional Radiology Residency Websites: A Review of Online Content Available for Medical Students,” which published in the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology.

David Kuo, DO ’96, associate dean, graduate medical education and chief academic officer, PCOM MEDNet, received the 2019 Fellow Award from the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians.

Alice Lee, DO ’15, resident, general surgery, was first author on “Intussusception Caused by a Mesenteric Hematoma in the Setting of Trauma,” which published in The American Surgeon.

Nicholas Ligato, DO, fellow, palliative medicine, presented his clinical case "Rethinking Family Dynamics and End of Life Care in a Group Home Patient" at the annual assembly of the Association of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.

Ilene Warner-Maron, PhD, clinical assistant professor, psychology and Katherine Galluzzi, DO, professor and chair, geriatrics, presented “Gun Violence Among Aged, Depressed, and Demented Individuals,” at the 6th Annual Public Health Day Symposium.

Jillian Mattioni, DO ’13, resident, otolaryngology, was first author on “A Cross-Sectional Evaluation of Outcomes of Pediatric Branchial Cleft Cyst Excision,” which published in the International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology.

Drew A. Nagele, PsyD, clinical professor of psychology, co-authored “Bridging Gaps in Care for Children with Acquired Brain Injury: Perceptions of Medical and Educational Service Providers,” which published in the Journal of Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine.

Quang H. Pham, DO, resident, otolaryngology, co-authored “Pigmented Melanotic Schwannoma of the Neck: Report of 2 Cases and Review of the Literature,” which published in the Ear, Nose and Throat Journal.

Jillian Ploof, DO ’13, resident, neurosurgery, was first author on “Liposclerosing Myxofibrous Tumor of the Cranial Vault: A Case Report,” which published in the journal Neurosurgery.

Sara (Mandy) Wilson Reece, PharmD, vice-chair, pharmacy practice and director, interprofessional education, was named this year's Outstanding Allied Health Professional by the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce, Healthy Hall awards.

The Association of Military Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons has been named the Eastern Region SAMOPS Chapter of the Year.
