Richard T. Smith, MBA, serves as Chief Information Officer for the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM), where he provides strategic leadership for the institution's enterprise technology, cybersecurity, data and analytics, and digital transformation initiatives. Since joining PCOM in 2019, Smith has led numerous institution-wide technology initiatives, including the implementation of a modern enterprise data platform, adoption of a cloud-first technology strategy, advancement of enterprise cybersecurity in partnership with the Chief Information Security Officer, and the ongoing implementation of Workday as PCOM's enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.

With more than 30 years of executive leadership experience in information technology, Smith has built a reputation for aligning technology investments with institutional strategy while improving operational efficiency, strengthening data-informed decision-making, and enhancing the experiences of students, faculty and staff. His current areas of focus include enterprise digital transformation, artificial intelligence, data governance, cybersecurity, and leveraging technology to improve institutional effectiveness and the overall user experience. He believes technology should serve as a strategic enabler that simplifies complex processes, empowers people and advances PCOM's mission of education, research, patient care and community service.

Prior to joining PCOM, Smith served as Vice President of Corporate Information Technology for Elwyn, one of the nation's largest human services organizations. During his 13-year tenure, he led the development and execution of a comprehensive enterprise technology strategy supporting approximately 3,500 employees and 12,000 individuals receiving services across multiple states.

Smith earned both his Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems from Saint Joseph's University.
