2024, at 2:30 p.m. in the Hughes Ballroom at the Gas South Convention Center.
PCOM Georgia's newest osteopathic medical students will celebrate with faculty, administrators,
friends and family as they don their physician white coats, recite their class mission
statement and hear from program directors and other speakers. The ceremony marks an
important milestone in welcoming medical students into the osteopathic profession.
About the white coat
The white coat ceremony signifies a rite of passage for first-year medical students
and establishes a commitment to osteopathic medicine and patient care. The ceremony symbolizes the purity of medical care as well as the
trust between doctor and patient. The coat reminds physicians of their duty to practice
medicine with humanism and professionalism. It symbolizes scientific proficiency,
integrity, responsibility and compassion when healthcare professionals diagnose and
treat patients.
