The primary mission of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Councils is to develop, recommend and advocate policies, procedures and programs that advance PCOM’s mission: cultivate an environment of inquiry, inquisitiveness and respect; promote discovery and celebration of our differences; and foster appreciation of the rich social fabric that binds the campus community together.
The Diversity Councils at PCOM, PCOM Georgia and PCOM South Georgia will regularly advise the president’s Cabinet on matters of diversity and provide insight and understanding of the importance of fostering a more diverse and pluralistic campus community that is welcoming, safe and affirming for all. The Diversity Council will review the current state of the College’s diversity efforts, lead the creation of a strategic plan that promotes diversity and inclusion throughout the College, and advance long-range planning initiatives to ensure the College reflects the rich diversity of cultural heritage and experiences found across the PCOM community, the country and the world.
In addition to being the president of the Atlanta Medical Association, Frank Jones, MD, MPH, is a clinical professor of surgery and diversity council member at PCOM Georgia. In this episode of the Atlanta Medical Association's Ask a Black Doctor Series, Dr. Jones hosts a panel of clinicians and healthcare professionals to discuss protecting and educating those who are on the frontline during the COVID-19 pandemic.
