Match Day 2020

March 30, 2020

In the midst of a global pandemic, students from the class of 2020 at PCOM Georgia celebrated one of the most exciting days in their professional journey—match day. Here they share their personal match story, what has inspired them along the way and what advice they would give to students starting the journey today.

Arrington D. Mason-Callaway (PharmD ’20)What inspired you to go into pharmacy?

Pharmacists are the most accessible healthcare professionals. The opportunity to positively impact lives on a daily basis was both fulfilling and desirable to me.

Where did you match?

Albert Einstein Medical Center, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Why did you pursue a residency?

I chose to pursue pharmacy to further increase my clinical knowledge and expand my opportunities to serve more patients.

How did you feel when you found out you matched?

I cried. I felt overcome with joy and gratitude.

What advice would you give to year one pharmacy students just starting their journey?

Start studying from day one. It will set the tone for your entire journey. You’re allowed to be frustrated, tired and even break down, but do not give up.

Is there anything else you would like to share?

If you’re considering pursuing a residency... Go for it.
