Join PCOM for a five hour PA-state certified Medical Marijuana Certification training course. This livestream webcast only course is open to physicians and other healthcare providers to meet the CE/CME requirements on opioid prescribing.


Upon completion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Understand difference between addiction and physical dependence.
  • Recognize need for balance in use of controlled substances for treatment of pain.
  • Explain federal laws and Pennsylvania regulations related to prescribing of medical marijuana.
  • List possible routes of administration.
  • Describe therapeutic uses.
  • Discuss pharmacokinetics (e.g., how delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol [delta-9-THC] is retained in the body), pharmacodynamics, adverse effects, potential drug interactions and clinical indications.
  • Identify methods of mitigating risk related to utilization of medical marijuana with respect to federal laws and regulations.
  • Anticipate, be able to identify and mitigate potential physiological and psychological adverse effects of marijuana.

Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine designates this program for a maximum of five hours of AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician’s
participation in this activity.

Credit Designation Statement

Main Line Health designates this live educational activity for a maximum of (5) AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the educational activity.

Registration is free.

These fees include continental breakfast. Registration is limited on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be confirmed without tuition fee.

Registration fees for Saturday programs are not refundable, nor can they be credited for future programs.
