How do I qualify to take the NHA licensing examination in Pennsylvania?

Will you assist me in completing an Administrator-In-Training (AIT) program?

PCOM does not have the ability to arrange AIT programs. It is the responsibility of the applicant to find a nursing home and a nursing home administrator who is willing to train the applicant in an AIT program.

What else do I need to include in my application for the NHA examination in PA?

A complete application checklist is available on the Pennsylvania Licensing System (PALS) website.

Will I receive a certificate of completion at the end of each session?

A certificate of completion will be provided to you once you have completed all the modules for the 120-hour course. You will submit this certificate with your NHA license application.

Can I take these courses to qualify for the NHA examination in any other state?

The PCOM 120-hour course is currently approved by the state of Pennsylvania. If you would like to apply it toward another state’s requirements for the NHA exam application, we will work with you on an individual basis to apply for approval in that state.

What if I have a question or a problem while I am taking the course?

You can contact us during normal business hours for assistance. Contact information will be provided once you register for the course.

How do I prepare for the licensing examination?

PCOM’s 120-Hour course covers a wide variety of information regarding Nursing Home Administration. You will also gain expertise during your practical experience in nursing home administration, such as during the AIT program. There are also a variety of test-prep resources, including practice tests, available online. A list of resource and reference books will also be provided to you at the start of the 120-hour course.

I have taken classes elsewhere toward the 120-Hour NHA requirement. Can I take only the courses I still need?

Yes, the modules are available to be taken individually. You can register for the ones you need individually by searching our online catalog.
