Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine: Virtual Campus Tour

Information Commons

An Information Commons integrates library and student computer lab functions. The facility houses sufficient computers to support extensive use of electronic resources available through the PCOM Digital Library. The area is staffed by a librarian, library assistant and computer specialist who work directly with the main campus library and MIS/telecommunications department.

The PCOM Digital Library provides access to a wealth of licensed Internet resources, including over 6,000 full-text e-journals, electronic textbooks, bibliographic databases, streaming videos, clinical simulations, diagnostic decision support programs, and evidence-based clinical information systems, as well as subject access to selected Web resources. Print subscriptions to a number of core journal titles constitute a reading room collection for the Information Commons. The main campus library electronically provides articles from any print-only titles in its collection to GA-PCOM users.
