Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine: Virtual Campus Tour

Anatomy Laboratory

GA-PCOM's Anatomy Laboratory can comfortably accommodate and educate an entire class of students. The audiovisual technology in the lab is state-of-the-art. There are two large projection screens and three plasma monitors interfaced to a computer system that allows students to easily view live dissection demonstrations and anatomical reviews anywhere in the lab. This system also allows online access to anatomical resources including medical images that are utilized for student learning. A comprehensive collection of anatomical models and plastinated specimens are maintained in the educational resource room located at the back of the anatomy lab. At the entrance of the anatomy lab are two changing rooms with lockers.

The lab is also used for surgical training for practicing physicians.

Notable Facts

Interactive tutorials are available for the study of anatomy; the programs guide students through the basic histology of the organ systems with clinical application/correlates. Another tutorial addresses the major congenital malformations that students encounter in clinical practice.
