The Office of Student Affairs handles the distribution of the commencement package. Graduates will receive an email from the Office of Student Affairs when the commencement package is ready for pick up.
If for some reason you cannot pick up your commencement package until the day of graduation, the Office of Student Affairs will bring your package to the Kimmel Center for you. You will find your cap and gown in the Lounge after 9 a.m. Tickets for your family and guests will be available for pick up at the ticket table. Please be sure to notify Student Affairs by email at Studentaffairs@pcom.edu that you will pick up your package at the Kimmel Center on commencement day. This will ensure that your tickets are available at the ticket table for your family and guests.
All family members and guests attending the ceremony must have a Kimmel Center generated admission ticket to enter the ceremony on commencement day. The Office of Academic Affairs is currently looking into how many initial tickets each graduate will receive. An email will be sent shortly once we obtain more information from the Kimmel Center concerning the number of seats. Arrangements to request extra tickets will take place sometime in June 2017. At that time, graduates will receive an e-mail with instructions on how to order extra tickets. Please do not request extra tickets until you receive this email.
The rolled diploma you receive on stage during the ceremony is not your official diploma. If you are eligible for the official diploma at this time, you may pick it up in the lounge which will be open for one hour following the ceremony. The Registrar will distribute the diplomas soon after the ceremony is completed.
For students who are unable to pick up their diplomas on commencement day, diplomas will be available the first business day after commencement in the Office of the Registrar. You may also call the Registrar's Office at PCOM during regular business hours at 215-871-6704 to make sure that your diploma is ready for pick up.
Diplomas for doctoral graduates are dated throughout the year as dissertations are completed and bound. Doctoral graduates will receive their diplomas following one of the four annual Board of Trustees meeting dates at which degrees are conferred. Doctoral graduates should consult with their program director for their dissertation completion and degree conferral dates.
PCOM Printing Services will be taking orders for 2017 Graduate Programs Commencement Announcement Packages starting in January 2017. Graduation Announcements are sold in lots of 25 personalized announcements and 25 envelopes. Announcements may be picked up at Printing Services or shipped to the graduate (a shipping charge will be added to the cost).
Graduation announcements may be ordered through PCOM Printing Services. To place an order, email Printing Services at firstname.lastname@example.org. Be sure to include the following information in your email:
1. Your name (as you want it to appear on the announcement).
2. Your campus.

Graduates who have family members needing special accommodation seating at the Kimmel Center must contact Donna Feeney-Figaniak, Academic Affairs Coordinator as soon as possible at DonnaF@pcom.edu. Please specify the number of wheelchairs, walkers and anyone who will have difficulty in navigating steps. One companion may sit with this guest.
The commencement ceremony will be presented in American Sign Language through on stage interpreters for the duration of the program. Please contact Donna Feeney-Figaniak, Academic Affairs Coordinator as soon as possible at DonnaF@pcom.edu and let her know if a hearing impaired relative or guest will attend.
The following is an explanation of the progression of the event:
At approximately 11:15 a.m. we will begin forming the line of graduates. You will line up in single file in seating order, by program. Your group will be led in the procession by your Faculty Program Director. The marshalling order will be posted on the second floor level, so please check it to be sure you are in the right place in line (right isle should be reverse alphabetical and left isle should be in alphabetical order). At 11:30 a.m., the procession will move into Verizon Hall. Upon arrival, the faculty marshals (Program Director) for each program will lead the procession to the graduate seating area, and direct participants to an open row. All graduates will be in the audience and arrive there first, followed by the faculty members who will be seated on stage. Please remain standing at your seat until all faculty members arrive on stage and await the Provost's signal to be seated (when the faculty is seated).
The commencement ceremony will be presented in American Sign Language through on stage interpreters for the duration of the program. Please let the Office of Academic Affairs know if anyone is hearing impaired.
The ceremony will include: the National Anthem; an invocation; a major address and honorary degree presentation; speeches and remarks from classmates and administrators; the conferral of degrees; the hooding of graduates; a concluding statement and recessional.
At the appointed time in the program, the Provost will invite doctoral students in clinical psychology to please stand. Dr. Feldstein will bestow the degree on your group. Once the degree is bestowed upon the graduates, graduates should start moving to the bottom of the steps and wait at the bottom of the steps until Dr. Cuzzolino calls your name. When your name is called, walk across the stage front, accept your rolled diploma from Dr. Feldstein, shake his hand, shake Provost Veit's hand, and then proceed to the hooding area where the appropriate faculty member will hood the graduate. Graduates are hooded by their program director, department head or faculty adviser as determined by the academic program. Any member of the academic procession may assist in hooding without special approval.
At the Time of Hooding
Remove your cap, turn and face the photographer (on your left), your adviser will hood you, then place your hood back on.
Returning to Your Assigned Seat
The graduate should then turn around, continue to the end of the platform to exit the stage and return to his or her assigned seat. Please remain standing at your seat until all of the graduates have returned to their seats.
Moving the Tassel
Once the degree is bestowed upon the graduates in all nine programs, Provost Veit will instruct you to move your tassel from the right to the left side.
Following the closing prayer, faculty will lead the procession and Dr. Cuzzolino or his designee will direct you to follow the faculty out to conclude the ceremony. You do not have to return your cap, gown and hood. They are yours to keep. If your diploma is ready for pick-up, please proceed to the lounge immediately following the ceremony.
