Information for 2013 Graduates

  

Graduation Announcements
Each student will receive 25 announcements with personalized name cards. Announcements will be available for pick up from the Georgia Campus Student Affairs office. Students will be notified when they are available. If you are unable to come to campus yourself please designate someone to pick them up for you.

Commencement Tickets
Each graduate will receive ten (10) tickets. Tickets will be available for pick up from the Georgia Campus Student Affairs office. Students will be notified when they are available.

Tickets will not be mailed, but may be picked up by a person designated by the graduate.

Student Affairs will coordinate a ticket exchange between students not needing their complete allotment and students needing additional tickets.

Rehearsal, Class Photograph and Barbecue
A mock rehearsal is tentatively scheduled to take place in the OMM Lab, Wednesday, May 15, Time:TBA. The rehearsal should last approximately two hours. All details of the commencement ceremony, including times, marshalling order and roll call, will be reviewed. All graduates are required to attend rehearsal, unless excused by the Dean.

Following rehearsal, a group cap and gown photograph will be taken. This will be followed by a barbecue.

Dinner Dance
A dinner dance in honor of the Classes of 2013 will take place at the Atlanta Marriott at Gwinnett Place, 1775 Pleasant Hill Road, Duluth, GA, on Friday, May 17, 2013, time TBA. Each graduate may bring one guest. Black-tie is optional. 

Commencement
The commencement ceremony will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at 1:00 pm in the Grand Ballroom on the lower level of the Gwinnett Center. Graduates must arrive no later than 8:00 a.m. for rehearsal. Following rehearsal, graduates may join their family and friends for lunch on-your-own prior to the 1 p.m. ceremony. Graduates should return to the Grand Ballroom by 12:00 p.m. Seating for ticket holders will begin at 12:00 p.m.

Hooding
Refer to the Commencement Hooding Policy.

In keeping with College tradition, the Dean of the College hoods the graduates. A close family member who is a physician (either D.O. or M.D.) may assist, provided the Hooding Information Form has been completed and approved in advance. 

Commissioning
The formal commissioning of graduates in the military will take place on stage as part of the Commencement Ceremony. Please refer to the Commissioning Policy. A separate communication with specific details will be sent to each military graduate.
