2011 PCOM Annual Report

Alumni from osteopathic schools around the nation traveled from locations in the southeastern region to attend the Georgia Osteopathic Medical Association 2011 Fall CME sessions in Georgia.  The meeting included a reception, co-sponsored with PCOM., on Friday, November 4, 2011.  Dr Martin Levine, current president of AOA, was a special guest and he welcomed Dr. Melinda Greenfield, GA-PCOM faculty as the incoming GOMA president.  Dr. Paula Gregory, GA-PCOM Chair, Clinical Education was the outgoing president.

Fisher Lecture

On Thursday, December 8, 2011, the 10th Annual Naomi & Bernard Fisher, DO '52 Distinguished Lectureship was held in Zedeck Amphiteater at 12:00pm.  The speaker was Peter Davies, PhD, Professor in the Department of Pathology and the Dominick P. Purpura Department of Neuroscience, Judith and Burton P. Resnick Chair in Alzheimer's Disease Research at Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University and Scientific Director at the Litwin-Zucker Center for the Study of Alzheimer's Disease and Memory Disorders, Feinstein Institute for Medical Research.  His topic was "Avenues to Treatment of Alzheimer's Disease."  Matthew Schure, President and CEO, PCOM, thanked the Fisher family and honored Bernard Fisher, DO '52, who passed away in November.  The lectureship series was made possible by a gift from Bernard Fisher, DO '52 in memory of his wife, Naomi Fisher.
