Supervisor Training

The Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine Department of Psychology recognizes that clinical supervisors are pivotal to the training experience of competent psychologists and counselors.

Supervisors engage in a number of activities including teaching fundamental clinical methods and competencies, and mentoring and supporting professional growth.

The PCOM Department of Psychology is committed to maintaining a strong and active linkage with our training sites. At our annual Supervisor Training Day, we recognize our supervisors for the valued service they perform on behalf of our students in Clinical Psychology, School Psychology and Mental Health Counseling, and provide them with opportunities to extend and broaden their supervisory competencies through advanced training.

The annual supervisor training workshops are typically presented in the Fall and are free and open to direct supervisors of practicum students and interns, and faculty, with registration.

The supervisor training workshops offers the opportunity for CEU credit. Psychologists, social workers, school psychologists (NASP), and NBCC counselors can earn up to 6.0 CEs.

In addition, direct supervisors of PCOM graduate psychology students in practicum and internship may qualify to participate in a free 10 hour APA Continuing Education home study cultural competency training program: A Cultural Competency Training Program for Psychologists: Clinical and Supervisory Practices with Latino Culture and Language by Marie C. Weil, Psy.D. and Bruce S. Zahn, Ed.D., ABPP.

Interested supervisors may contact Dr. Bruce Zahn at brucez@pcom.edu or 215- 871-6498 for more information. Please identify your agency and the students who you are supervising in your inquiry.
