2001

Michael G. Benninghoff, DO, Newark, DE, was awarded the Specialist of the Year Teaching Award by family medicine residency at Christiana Care Health System and was named to Delaware Today’s 2014 Top Doctors for critical care medicine.

Millicent A. Channell, DO, Philadelphia, PA, became the third DO to complete the Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine fellowship at Drexel University College of Medicine.

TJ Gray, II, MBA, DO, Forest Grove, OR, was honored by The Northwest Osteopathic Medical Foundation with its Rising Star Award at the Founders' Gala and Awards Evening on October 25, 2014 in Seattle, Washington. The award is presented to a physician with 10 or less years in practice who has made an impact upon the osteopathic profession and the community. Dr. Gray was selected for this award by a panel of osteopathic physicians (DOs) from the five Northwest states: Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington.

Arthur Jones, Jr., DO, Lincoln, DE, joined the medical staff at Nanticoke Health Services in Seaford, DE.

Vasilios P. Lazos, MS, DO, Manchester, NH, was featured in the article "Understanding the Osteopathic Approach to Medicine," published in the Seacoast Sunday (January 4, 2015).

Timothy McCullough, MBA, DO, Stonington, CT, was named to Connecticut Magazine's 2014 Top Doctors for urology.

Dominic J. Valentino, III, DO, Grenloch, NJ, was highlighted in the article “Check Up: Unbroken ICU Sleep Lessens Delirium,” published in the health section of the Philadelphia Inquirer (April 6, 2014).

2003

Craig N. Czyz, DO, Columbus, OH, received two certifications not previously bestowed on any osteopathic residency trained and board certified ophthalmologist. In October, Dr. Czyz was inducted as a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons. He becomes the first ophthalmic surgeon trained in an American Osteopathic Association (AOA) residency program and boarded by the American Osteopathic Board of Ophthalmology (AOBO) to achieve this distinction. In November, Dr. Czyz became the first AOA residency trained and AOBO boarded ophthalmologist to be granted membership into the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Norrell Kristin Atkinson, MS, Farmington, CT, joined the Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect program at Connecticut Children's Medical Center.

Jay R. Colbert, Jr., DO, Fairhope, AL, joined the medical staff at Robertsdale Medical Specialists.

Lisa D. Held, DO, Radnor, PA, was named to Main Line Today's 2014 Top Doctors for anesthesiology.

Mark G. Evans, DO, Dallas, PA, joined InterMountain Medical Group in Nanticoke.

Gina Benaquista DeSipio, DO, Narberth, PA was recognized as “Teacher of the Year” by the Temple University/MossRehab resident training program in physical medicine and rehabilitation.

Jocelyn R. Idema, DO, Frederick, MD, was named one of the "36 spine surgeons under 40 to know" by Becker's Spine Review. Dr. Idema is a spine surgeon with a special interest in minimally invasive techniques and motion preservation at Mid-Maryland Musculoskeletal Institute, a division of The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics.

Marcin A. Jankowski, Jr, DO, Chester, PA, was named medical director of the trauma program at Crozer-Chester Medical Center, a state designated Level II trauma center that has served Delaware County for over twenty-five years.

Cory J. Keller, DO, Birdsboro, PA, was appointed assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine at Temple University School of Medicine and a sports medicine physician at Temple University Hospital.

Chavone D. Momon-Nelson, MBA, DO, Carlisle, PA, was honored by the Brownsville Area Schools Alumni Association at its 11th annual awards banquet. The association recognizes graduates who have distinguished themselves after graduation. Most recently, Dr. Momon-Nelson began a new chapter in her life as the owner of her own practice, Carlisle OB/GYN.

John P. Mongan, DO, York, ME, joined the medical staff at Saratoga Hospital and Saratoga Hematology/Oncology.

Catherine M. Porter, DO, West Chester, PA, was featured in the article "Connecting with Patients is what it's All About," published in the Daily Local News (October 23, 2014).

Christopher J. Buzas, DO, Mountain Top, PA, joined Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, in Wilkes-Barre, as a colorectal surgeon.

Kevin A. Copeland, DO, Hockessin, DE, joined Cardiology Physicians in Wilmington.

Andrew T. Darlington, DO, Middletown, CT, graduated from the advanced heart failure and cardiac transplant fellowship at Yale University and started working for Piedmont Heart in Atlanta, GA.

Darrin R. Mangiacarne, DO, Roanoke, VA, graduated with a master's degree in health policy and administration from the University of Southern Mississippi. Dr. Mangiacarne now serves as medical director at the Virginia Premier Medical Home in Roanoke.

Lisa Duffy-Reckner, DO, Warminster, PA, joined Ryder Barnes and Associates Pediatrics in Mechanicsburg.

Kathleen M. Zazzali, DO, Brick, NJ, joined Geisinger Cardiology-Lewistown in Burnham, Pennsylvania.

Bryan D. Bolinger, DO, Pittsburgh, PA, joined Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital as a neurosurgeon. Dr. Bolinger is the first neurosurgeon available at the facility.

Tara H. Budinetz, DO, West Hartford, CT, accepted a reproductive endocrinology and infertility specialist position with Abington Reproductive Medicine.

Robert Carman, Jr., DO, Harrisburg, PA, joined the staff at Fulton County Medical Center, in McConnellsburg, as a general surgeon.

Laura A. McGowan, DO, Nazareth, PA, joined Buffalo Medical Group's primary care department.

Peter F. Bidey, DO, Philadelphia, PA, contributed three columns, "Never Leave Your Child in the Car and Tips so You Don't Forget," "Is Your Child Receiving Enough Preventative Care?," and "Why You Should Shop at Tobacco-free Stores," to Philly.com's "Healthy Kids" blog (August 7, 2014, October 9, 2014, and November 10, 2014). Dr. Bidey was also featured in a story, "Ease Kids Into School Sleep Schedules," in U.S. News and World Report (August 17, 2014).
