Joseph J. Kuchinski, DO, FACOEP-D, is a practicing osteopathic emergency physician. He is board certified in emergency medicine by the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine (AOBEM), having completed his second re-certification process in January 2011.

In addition to the clinical practice of emergency medicine, Dr. Kuchinski has been involved in post-graduate education first serving as the associate program director for the Emergency Medicine Residency at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx. He also subsequently served as the co-director for the combined programs in emergency medicine/family practice and emergency medicine/internal medicine. Dr. Kuchinski served as director of medical education at St. Barnabas Hospital and New York United Hospital Medical Center in Port Chester, N.Y. He was also the emergency medicine program director at New York United Hospital Medical Center and St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson, NJ.

KDr. uchinski has served the American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians (ACOEP) and the Foundation for Osteopathic Emergency Medicine (FOEM) as president. He also serves as a patient and physician advocate as a member of the American Osteopathic Association’s Bureau on Federal Health Programs and the American Osteopathic Information Association (AOIA)/Osteopathic Political Action Committee (OPAC) Board of Directors. In July 2011, Dr. Kuchinski was named chair of OPAC.

Dr. Kuchinski graduated from Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio with a B.S. in Pharmacy in 1980 and received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) in 1986. After graduation, Dr. Kuchinski served as chief intern at the Hospital of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (HPCOM). He completed his emergency medicine residency also at HPCOM and served as chief resident the final year as the program moved to the Albert Einstein Medical Center. Dr. Kuchinski served as president of PCOM’s Alumni Association Board of Directors and currently represents the association on the PCOM Board of Trustees.

KDr. uchinski and his wife Andrea have one child, Michael and they reside in Mountain Lakes, New Jersey. In Mountain Lakes, Dr. Kuchinski has been the Cub Scout Pack Master, served on the Traffic and Safety Committee and coached CYO basketball.
