Comprised of elected representatives from each class and professional degree program, the Student Government Association serves as a voice for students to the College faculty & administration. There are currently 6 Student Councils representing all the unique programs: The Osteopathic Medicine, Physician Assistant, Psychology, Biomedical Science, Forensic Medicine & ODL Student Council with officers elected by the student body. Student Council officers are involved in governance, serving on every major college committee and working with faculty to evaluate every course they take. From the Councils, 15 officers serve on the SGA Senate which focuses on cross campus issues. The Senate is active in sponsoring co-curricular activities, and has pledged an ongoing commitment to community service campus wide.

For the 2012 academic year, PCOM's student body elected Courtney Hudson, to be the PCOM Senate President.
Greetings PCOM Community,
On behalf of the PCOM Student Government Association and the Student Senate, I would like to congratulate the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine on another year of success. As we continue to shape the osteopathic physicians, physician assistants, psychologists, forensic specialists, biomedical scientists, and organizational leaders of tomorrow, we have much to be proud of. Although I sit proudly in a position of student leadership, I am humbled to see that PCOM continues to create the future leaders of the health care industry. In the midst of health care reform, economic uncertainty, and government hostility, PCOM never fails to gracefully flourish.
The goal of the PCOM SGA for the 2011-2012 school year centers around campus unity, cultural diversity, and support of the efforts of all PCOM students. In congruence with these goals, the SGA is hosting the annual PCOMmunity Outreach Day along with the 2nd Annual PCOM Winter Gala. The SGA plans to also support many other major PCOM events including:
- 3rd Annual PCOM Diversity Conference hosted by the Psychology Department
- 7th Annual Make-A-Wish Date Auction hosted by the Robert Berger Pediatrics Society
- 1st Annual PCOM Relay For Life hosted by the DO Council
- The Cultural Competency Project, one of the newest PCOM programs hosted by 10+ campus organizations
Although learning is our primary concern, the student body must not forget the great legacy that has come before us. I encourage all students, no matter what program, to get involved with clubs, organizations, research, community service, or some other great activity that PCOM has to offer. It is the responsibility of us all to leave PCOM a better place than it was when we arrived. O.J. Snyder and Mason Pressly would be proud to see that after 113 years, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine continues to thrive!
To all prospective students and visitors, we welcome you to PCOM! We hope our passion and warmth leaves a lasting impression on you, the same as it has on us!
Warm Regards,
Courtney A. Hudson, DO/MBA Candidate
SGA President 2011-2012
