Choosing the appropriate database
We are going to choose MEDLINE for this search. MEDLINE is the most
comprehensive database for
the biomedical literature, indexing over 3,900 journals. There are over
15 million citations in
the database which covers 1966 to the present.
The Library offers access to MEDLINE and other databases
through Ovid, Inc. The search
screens and process will be similar for all of these databases. However
the subject headings may be
different. Contact your Librarian for assistance with the other
databases.
For this search we are going to choose Medline.
NOTE: these tutorial screens were captured in 2001, but the
important search functionalities reviewed remain the same. Graphics
have been changed, breakdown of years covered in file segments has been
altered, and, of course, new citations have been added.
