David McWhorter, PhD

  

Associate Professor, Anatomy

David McWhorter is Associate Professor of Anatomy at Georgia Campus, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Before pursuing his postsecondary education, he completed four years of active duty in the United States Navy. Subsequently, Dr. McWhorter went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in exercise physiology from Truman State University, Master's degree in exercise physiology from the University of Missouri, and Doctorate degree in Biomedical Sciences from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine in conjunction with Kent State University.

His areas of instruction include gross, histology, embryology and neuroanatomy. Dr. McWhorter has received teaching awards from the University of Missouri, Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine, Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, and GA-PCOM.

Medical education is the center of Dr. McWhorter's scholarly work; he has published extensively in his field. He has also has served as an editor and a journal reviewer.

Outside of his college work, Dr. McWhorter enjoys resistance training and Brazilian jiujitsu.  In 2007, he won the North American Grappling Association's (NAGA) U.S. Nationals in the heavyweight director's division.
