David G. Gantt, PhD Professor, Anatomy
David Gantt Ph.D, grew up in Mayfield, Kentucky, and graduated from the University of Washington with a B.A. in Anthropology. Dr. Gantt’s graduate training includes work at the University of Toronto. He received his M.A. and Ph.D. in Biological Anthropology in the area of human and primate anatomy. Dr. Gantt’s research and teaching career spans some 30 years and includes academic appointments at Florida State University, University of Florida, University of Alabama at Birmingham, University of Colorado Health Science Center, Emory University, Georgia Southern University, the U.S. Army Medical Department, Center and School at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, and St. Matthews University Medical School, Grand Cayman, BWI. He has taught courses in anthropology, biology, anatomy and physiology at the undergraduate, graduate and professional school levels. His areas of research are in craniofacial growth and development, oral biology, structure and ultrastructure of dental hard tissues, human and primate dental evolution, high resolution CT, and digital imaging and scanning electron microscopy. He has held numerous research positions in the US, Germany, and England. Dr. Gantt has presented over 100 lectures at national and international scientific meetings, and has published over 80 peer reviewed articles and books. His honors include numerous teaching, research, public service and military service awards.
